Mon Joli Chien
Terms & Conditions
Consultation Before Grooming
Prior to every grooming session, we conduct a thorough consultation with you to ensure that your dog receives a grooming service tailored to their specific requirements. This discussion is designed to accommodate your dog's individual needs and your preferences.
Pricing and Adjustments
The cost of your dog's groom will be discussed during the consultation. Should there be changes due to factors like your dog's size, the condition of their coat, or the time required to complete the service, we will confirm any price adjustments at this stage.
Agreement to Terms
Please take time to read the following terms and conditions. Your signature and the date at the bottom of this document confirm that you have read and understood all points before we begin pampering your pooch.
Appointment Requests and Scheduling
All online bookings made via our system are considered appointment ‘requests’ and are only confirmed once Mon Joli Chien ‘accepts’ them. You will receive a confirmation message once your appointment is secured. Occasionally, we might need to adjust your appointment time, normally by up to 30 minutes either side of the original request. These amendments are only made when necessary, for example, to ensure the safety and comfort of all dogs in our care, particularly if there are large breeds, reactive dogs, or those with special grooming needs scheduled nearby. If a change is proposed, you have the right to decline, and we will do our utmost to accommodate your original time or propose an alternative.
Preparations Before Your Groom
Ensure your dog has eaten well in advance and has been to the toilet before their visit, as this makes their experience more comfortable and reduces stress. Giving your dog a good walk beforehand helps them to expend excess energy, making them more relaxed and better behaved during their groom. This can result in a more precise and enjoyable grooming session.
Cancellation Policy
We appreciate that plans can change and ask that you notify us of any cancellations or rescheduling at least 24 hours in advance. For Monday appointments, please let us know by Saturday. This allows us to offer the slot to another client.
Cancellations (with less than 24 hours notice) or no-shows will incur the full fee due to the difficulty in filling the gap at short notice, which has a significant impact on our small business.
Lateness to Appointments
If you are running late, please inform us promptly. Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may mean we can only provide a wash and tidy, depending on your dog’s coat and temperament. If you are over 30 minutes late, we may need to reschedule your appointment or charge an extra fee, as your delay may affect subsequent bookings. You will still be charged the full original fee.
Lateness in Collecting Your Dog
If you are delayed in collecting your dog, please let us know as soon as possible. We will look after your dog while waiting, but if you are more than 30 minutes late, a charge of £5 will apply for every 15 minutes thereafter. This is because late collections may limit our ability to accommodate other dogs and require additional staff attention for your dog.
Matting, Fees, and Shaving
Your dog's welfare is always our priority. We will not subject any dog to undue stress or discomfort. If your dog’s coat is matted or requires shaving in certain areas, please be aware:
-
Very short clips can cause irritation as the blades need to run close to the skin.
-
We may discover nicks, cuts, or issues hidden by matting.
-
Mon Joli Chien cannot be held responsible for any after-effects of shaving or clipping, or for problems uncovered on a severely matted or neglected coat. Effects could include itchiness, redness, or self-inflicted irritation from excessive rubbing.
-
Severe matting increases the risk of nicking the skin with clippers. Removing mats from ears in particular can cause bleeding at the tips due to restricted blood flow.
Matting fees apply when safe and humane removal is possible, covering additional time, damage to our equipment and sometimes extra staffing. In cases of severe matting, we will shave the affected coat for the dog’s welfare. This will be discussed during your consultation, or we will call you if further action is needed after you have left.
After issue of our Terms & Conditions and by attending your appointment you are agreeing to release Mon Joli Chien from liability for any issues associated with the above process or medical problems revealed during grooming or de-matting. Any veterinary costs incurred during or after grooming are the owner's responsibility.
Medical and Health Issues
We strive to make your pet’s visit as pleasant as possible. However, grooming can occasionally reveal or worsen existing medical conditions, either during or after the session. Accidents, though rare, can include cuts, scratches, nicks, or nail quicking. Mon Joli Chien is not responsible for conditions discovered during grooming, nor for accidental death due to pre-existing health issues.
If Your Dog Is in Season
If your dog is in season, please cancel your appointment with more than 24 hours’ notice and we will reschedule. If you arrive without notifying us and we cancel the appointment on the day, you will incur the full service fee.
Flea Policy
If you discover your dog has fleas before your appointment, inform us as soon as possible. We will rearrange your appointment to prevent contamination. If your dog arrives with fleas, the appointment will be cancelled, and the full fee will still be payable. If we discover fleas during grooming, we will continue the session but employ measures to prevent spread. Dogs with fleas will be bathed in a flea-repellent shampoo, unless you request otherwise. An additional charge of £20 will apply to cover cleaning and fumigation of the salon.
Aggressive and Difficult Dogs
We reserve the right to refuse grooming if we believe there is a risk of injury to the dog or staff. Aggressive behaviour or behaviour that could cause harm will result in immediate termination of the session, and the full fee will be charged. You must inform us of any previous incidents of biting, aggression, or behavioural issues before grooming. If your dog is difficult but not excessively stressed, we may use extra staff to assist, incurring a £15 handling fee for additional time and help. Muzzles may be used where necessary for safety. If the groom cannot continue due to behaviour or excessive stress, you are responsible for payment for the work that has been completed up to this point. You must truthfully inform us of any history of biting or aggression, and you accept responsibility for any injury or damage caused by your pet.
Collection Process
Following the consultation, you will receive an estimated collection time. Please wait for our call before coming to collect your dog, and do not arrive earlier than requested, as this may cause unnecessary stress and risk of injury if your dog becomes excited. We work at the dog’s pace, allowing for breaks or slower grooming as and when needed. We will call you 15 minutes before your dog is ready. If you need more notice, please let us know during your consultation.
Feedback and Corrections After the Groom
After each session, we will share any issues encountered and offer suggestions for your dog’s future grooms. When collecting your dog, please check you are happy with the result and let us know of any concerns, as we may be able to make adjustments immediately. Feedback on the spot helps us better understand your preferences. Negative reviews harm us as a small business and do not give us the chance to address your concerns. We are committed to ensuring you and your dog are delighted with our service, so please be honest with your feedback.
If you notice any issues after leaving the salon, you may return within 48 hours for free corrections. After this period, a suitable fee will be charged, as your dog’s coat will have changed and started to grow again.
